Oral Surgery: Use of laser in lingual frenectomy in pediatric patients

Oral Surgery

The frenectomy is the surgical act that is performed on the labial or lingual frenulum. This procedure is performed when the frenulum generates limits the movements of the lip or tongue.

Among the benefits of using laser in frenectomy are: a quick surgical procedure, and a shorter and less painful post-operative period. Other benefits are: it promotes hemostasis and sterilizes the surgical site.

Prosthetic Rehabilitation in a Four-year-old Child with Severe Early Childhood Caries

Severe caries in childhood affects several teeth in both arches and occurs in children under 05 years of age. The lesion spreads and in many cases compromises the dental pulp.

Oral rehabilitation restores the different functions lost due to the destruction and absence of teeth. Thanks to the rehabilitation, a correct dental and maxillary development is ensured.

We share the case of a 4-year-old girl who presented coronal destruction in several teeth. She was rehabilitated with steel crowns, celluloid crowns, orthodontic treatment and removable partial dentures.

Early Treatment of Anterior Crossbite with Eruption Guidance Appliance: A Case Report

The anterior crossbite is a type of malocclusion in the anteroposterior plane, characterized by having the lower teeth in front of the upper ones. Early evaluation is important to diagnose malocclusion and through interceptive orthodontics to correct it.

During this clinical case, an eruption guidance appliance (EGA) was used in a 05-year-old patient (mixed dentition) for 07 months with satisfactory results.

By means of dental reimplantation, the avulsed tooth is inserted into its socket, and then a clinical and radiographic follow-up is carried out in order to ensure the success of the treatment.
