Alternative for the rehabilitation of pediatric patients with early childhood caries

Oral Rehabilitation

Early childhood caries (known as baby bottle tooth decay) is an infectious process that destroys tooth structure, even leading to tooth loss. Rehabilitation is necessary to avoid serious aesthetic and functional consequences in the pediatric patient.

Rehabilitation in pediatric dentistry is a challenge since the treatment must be immediate to avoid problems in the child's cooperation. There are several methods to rehabilitate and replace prematurely lost teeth.

Why do stainless steel crowns fail?

Stainless steel crown

When primary molars lose a lot of dental tissue due to extensive caries or trauma, it is necessary to rehabilitate them with preformed steel crowns, which have a high success rate.

Stainless steel crowns are placed in an easy-to-perform, one-appointment procedure and are inexpensive. There are cases of failure that are the reason for this study.

Modified Hall technique in hypomineralized molar

Space Maintainers

Enamel hypomineralization is a developmental defect, it does not have a defined cause although it is related to systemic or environmental alterations during the first three years of life.

Molars with hypomineralized enamel are susceptible to erosion and caries. The rehabilitation of the molars is necessary to avoid early tooth loss, and in this case a steel crown was placed with the modified Hall technique.

Celluloid Strip Crown for Primary Anterior Tooth Restoration - Step by step

Pediatric Dentistry

Baby bottle tooth decay occurs at a very early age, especially in the upper incisors. It causes the destruction of dental tissue, even leading to the loss of the primary tooth.

Oral rehabilitation is necessary to restore chewing function and prevent changes in the eruption of permanent teeth and future malocclusions. In dentistry, resins and celluloid crowns are used to rehabilitate anterior teeth.
